World-wise Groups

Joining a World-wise group is a great way to get together with like minded people in your community to explore the big global issues of the day and work out ways in which you can make a difference.

Groups generally meet once a week for two ten week sessions lasting about two hours. In the first ten weeks you'll get a taster of some of the big issues of the day, find out how you can use the web to get at the info you need and make a start on getting the skills and confidence you need to make a difference. Workshops, drama, and discussions will all be on the agenda.

For the second ten weeks the group decides which issue it wants to know more about and puts its new skills into practice with a real campaigning project.

2007/8 World-wise Groups

A World-wise pilot group is currently up and running in Dundee, and a new group will be launched in Kirkcaldy in the new year. Click the links for updates and events.

2004 to 2007 Pilot Groups

Our 2004-5 pilot groups were in Fife, Stirling, Paisley and Glasgow; our 2005-6 groups were in the Highlands: Ullapool, Dingwall and Inverness; and in 2006-7 we were in Aberdeen and Perth.

To get a taster of what World-wise is all about read about World-wise Stirling's great Unjust Tug-of-War project last year, organised to highlight unfair trade rules, shortly before the Make Poverty History events of July.

World-wise Courses

World-wise groups run two ten week courses: Series 1: Introduction to the issues - Getting the Skills and Confidence to Change the World, and Series 2: Putting it into practice.
