About World-wise
Sometimes billed as 'night-classes in changing the world', the World Development Movement Scotland's World-wise project helps groups of adults within local communities in Scotland explore the big global issues of the day and begin to take action to change the world.
World-wise courses were first piloted by groups in Paisley, Fife, Stirling and Glasgow. We then ran groups in Inverness, Ullapool, Dingwall, Aberdeen and Perth. Our next pilot groups will be in Dundee and North Lanarkshire. Please get in touch if you are interested in joining a group.
Our course materials are designed to be user-friendly and flexible, and are available free of charge to community educators and informal groups throughout Scotland.
Who can get World-wise?
All types of groups can benefit from adding a global dimension to their activities and our materials can be used by community groups such as faith-based, parent and toddler, and discussion groups, as well as by Community Education departments, development educators and Workers Educational Associations (WEAs).
Our flexible resources provide for two ten-week series of weekly group meetings. Each meeting lasts about two hours. The programme can be adapted to meet individual group needs and we provide training workshops in the use of our materials.
